Live Music This Weekend, and Great New Releases in The Store.

First and foremost I hope your calendar has a big red circle over today: Slices, Zeitgeist, Ratface and The Crazy Scorpion Group all hailing from PIttsburgh are descending on Gooski’s for a serious night of local Punk Rock tonight Friday February 8th. Bands start at 10, but if you want to eat some wings before the wildness begins get there earlier so your drumsticks don’t end up in the pit. For the full details on the show check out the Facebook Event Page.

On top of all that excitement there are some amazing records in the store this week. First off there is a top notch new local release from Shockwave Riderz. This new band featuring Phil and Paul of Modey Lemon fame just came off a jaunt with Jon Spencer and have been playing some really great live shows around town. This is their vinyl debut and is really setting the bar high for things to come. If you are unfamiliar with them check out their bandcamp page.

Also in stock is the newest release of not so new material from Mind Cure favorites The Dirtbombs entitled “Consistency is the Enemy” on Cass Records. The title is deceiving because I find The Dirtbombs to be consistently amazing and this record continues to deliver. These are limited, so if you are interested make sure you act fast.

This week also brought some far out reissues from Numero Group. We finally got copies of the Wicked Lester 2X7in that came out a few weeks ago, but also got copies of the Medusa “First Step Beyond” LP. I really don’t know what to say about this seriously drug-addled hard rocker, but it is housed in a velvet jacket and has dominated the turntable since it got to the store. Check out this promo video form Numero and get your eye-ball catchers ready because it is wild!

There are also new releases in from Mississippi records, a new single from Third Man and more in the shop so stop down and check this stuff out en route to Gooski’s. See you in the Pit!
