We not only sell records at Mind Cure, sometimes we make them too: Our big sister label, Dear Skull Records, is sending our latest release, The Frantic Heart of It/Playoff Beard, out into the world this Saturday night at the Mr Roboto Project. This clear vinyl split 10-inch local record has been a long time in the making and we are very happy to finally be able to put it into your hands, which we will finally be able to do this weekend. If you are unfamiliar with either of local bands, or you just don’t want to have to wait to listen to this release you can hear it online here. We have been getting a lot of press for this release in both the Pittsburgh City Paper (which we managed to get on the cover of) and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette,so make sure you check and see what these local wordsmiths have to say about this release on their respective websites, or by picking up the real artifact in person. The show is at 7pm, and the full details are available on the Facebook Event Page.
Of course there are lots of things going on around the shop too! We have had some really great new releases and restocks come in this week from Third Man and Buried by Time and Dust. From Third Man are the first in an ambitious series of reissues of the Document Label. Rather than try to explain in, I would recommend checking out the official propaganda video. For those of you who don’t want to click that link, the short version is that we have in stock LP reissues of the first volumes of the complete recorded works of Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and The Mississippi Sheiks, all of which are essential to own. From Buried by Time and Dust we have an LP of Saint Vitus caught live opening for Black Flag in 1984. If that doesn’t sell it for you, nothing will.
We hope to see you on Saturday night, but if you can’t make it, be sure to stop down to the store to check out some records.
