As many of you know, this weekend was supposed to be the WFMU record fair, but due to hurricane Sandy it was canceled: On top of missing out on the support that WFMU is able generate through the fair, they have also had substantial damage to their equipment, offices and transmitter sites. They could use a little help. So this weekend we will be donating 10% of our Saturday and Sunday sales to WFMU to help them get a little closer to being stable.
Not only should you come down in order to help out WFMU, but since we are not going to the record fair we have a lot of really nice used records (I’m not going to capitalize any of these words, but pay attention to “a lot” and “really nice”) that were destined for the Big Apple. If that wasn’t enough we got in substantial orders from Get Hip, Fusetron and Chips and Beer this week too. There are tons of new releases and restocks of everything from the dark vibes of Danse Society the far out sounds of Genesis P-Orridge to that copy of Ramones “Rocket to Russia” that you are ashamed to admit you don’t own. Also, we have the new issue of Chips and Beer, which is essential reading! So come on down this weekend and feel good about spending too much money on records for once.
If you are feeling very generous we will have a donation jar on the counter if you’d like to add a little extra towards raising some cash for WFMU. If you are not in Pittsburgh, but would still like to help, you can make a donation online to WFMU through their website. Also if you are unfamiliar with WFMU, you are really missing out and should totally check them out. Even though their transmitters are out and their studios are damaged they are streaming live on the Internet, now that’s commitment!
