Hey Folks! First and foremost hanks to those of you who made it out to the first ever in-store performance at Mind Cure yesterday, there will certainly be more to come. Before these guys split town I was able to get some really great records, lathe-cuts and cassettes for the shop, including, but not limited to:

Dysmal Abyss – S/T – 12in Lathe Cut (Limited to 30 copies)

Caethua/Shep and Me – Split LP – Amazing 180 gram vinyl re-issue of this previously cassette only release.

Mole Hole – The Cave In – Lathe Cut 7in (Limited to 30 copies)

Shep and Me – S/T – Lathe Cute 7in

Plus cassettes by Lighted, Mole Hole, Andreas Brandal, Mar Habrine and more. We also still have copies of the Shep and Me ‘Nasturtium Inertia’ LP on Dear Skull Records. For more information about these releases check out the Lighten Up Sounds Blog:

We have very limited quantities of these so if you are interested act fast!

In other news Pittsburgh’s foremost annual Punk, Hardcore and Heavy Metal festival – Skull Fest – descends on the Iron City this weekend. The store will be stocked to the gills with slabs of PVS heaviness to flip your wig, so be sure to stop into Mind Cure between thrashing and head banging.

We are also proud to be participating in the annual Skull Fest scavenger hunt. We have donated multiple gift certificates for  $10 and one big one for $50! So if you want to get in on the goods get down to Belvedere’s – 4016 Butler St. – Saturday – August 13th – between 6-8 pm to check in. The grand prize of this maniacal contest is a FREE SPAK BROTHERS LARGE CHEESE PIZZA EVERY FRIDAY FOR A YEAR! There are tons of other prizes, and it is a guaranteed good time.

We have also donated a gift certificate to the Pittsburgh Zine Fair:

This gift certificate will be raffled off, and the proceeds benefit Pittsburgh’s long running books to prisoners program Book’em:
